I had a few days off work this week and on Monday we made our way over to the Upper Derwent Valley in the Peak District. Our original intention was a short walk to the Ladybower Wood. This turned into a 9 mile hike over the moors!
The following photos are the view we had from the roadside where we had parked the car.
This is Win Hill
The next set of photos are taken on the way to the woods
A view of Great Tor on Bamford Edge
The Hurkling Stones on Derwent Edge
View from Derwent Edge looking over Crook Hill towards the Great Ridge and Edale
I'd stopped to take a photo and when I looked up Graham had almost disappeared from sight!
Some of the flowers we saw along the way
And the wildlife.
First a lapwing
Then a curlew
We also saw other birds and a hare but they all moved far too quickly to be able to get a photo
A squirrel
Chaffinch
The squirrel sharing lunch with the ducks
And finally, the perfect way to end a perfect day. Pimms in the garden at home
